Cookies Policy

General

Cookies are small text files that contain navigation information and are stored in your computer's browser when using Skroutz services. Pixel tags are graphics with very small dimensions that load when you visit our website.

At Skroutz we use these technologies to provide an improved experience to our users and better services. The update of regulations and the legislative framework for the use of cookies and related mechanisms is an ongoing effort, both at the Greek and European level.

For these reasons, we feel the need to inform you with clarity and transparency about the policy we follow.

The cookies on Skroutz

At Skroutz, we distinguish the cookies and pixel tags we use into 4 categories, depending on their functionality:

  • Necessary
  • Performance
  • Preference
  • Targeting

Below you will find more information about your options, as well as a detailed list of the cookies and pixel tags we use.

Necessary

They are necessary for the website to function and for us to provide you with the Skroutz services you choose. Without them, functionalities such as logging into your account, using the Skroutz Cart, and sorting products would not be possible. Additional functionalities include preventing malicious use, transaction security, charging partner stores, and storing your privacy preferences. According to the law, no action is required from you to accept these. Third-party providers may have access to this information.

My choices

Below you will find more information about your options.

What options do I have?

You have three options. You can either proceed with the acceptance of all cookies and other mechanisms ("I Agree"/"Accept All"), which will allow you to have access to all the functionalities we have created for you, in a complete and personalized Skroutz experience. Or you can refuse any non-essential cookie ("I Disagree") or proceed with adjusting your cookie preferences ("Customize" → "Save Preferences"). The latter two cases may significantly reduce your Skroutz experience.

The Necessary are placed upon your entry to the Skroutz website. As they are completely essential either from a technical perspective or to offer you the Skroutz services you choose, the law allows us to place them without requiring any action or consent from you. By selecting the button «I disagree», which you will find in the initial basic update we provide you, you continue your navigation only with the Necessary. We will remember your choice for one year. When this period expires, or if you visit us from a new device or new browser, we will ask you again. Unfortunately, if you do not wish to place them at all, you will need to stop using our services and manually delete from your browser the cookies that have already been placed.

The Preferences, Performance, and Targeting are placed once you select the button «I agree» that you will find next to the initial basic update we provide you or the button «Accept all» that you will find under the emerging complete update (banner). We will remember your choice for one year. When this period passes, or if you visit us from a new device or new browser, we will ask you again.

By selecting the button «Adjustment» that you will find next to the initial basic update we provide you, you are led to the emerging more complete update (banner). There, by selecting «Save options», placement of any of the "Preference", "Performance", "Targeting" categories you have previously selected is made by ticking the relevant box and we will remember your choice for one year. If you have not ticked any box and click "Save choices", then only the Necessary ones will be saved, meaning this will function as if you had clicked "I do not agree" in the initial basic information we provide you. We will remember your choice for one year and when this period passes, or if you visit us from a new device or new browser, we will ask you again.

Keep me logged in

Every time you log in to your account as a registered Skroutz user, we will ask you through a special field ("I am on a shared computer") if you wish not to maintain your connection. If you do not select it, every time you open your browser to visit Skroutz, you will not need to re-enter your connection details (username and password) and you will have immediate access to your profile until you manually disconnect, otherwise for one year. If you choose not to maintain the connection ("I am on a shared computer"), you will need to enter your connection details each time you visit. We will ask you each time you log in again if you are on a shared computer.

The option to maintain or not your connection is done in the above way and is independent of whether you have generally accepted all cookies ("I Agree"/"Accept All"), accepted some ("Customize" → "Save Choices") or none non-Necessary ("I Disagree"). The cookie we use to maintain your connection is called _helmet_couch and normally has a lifespan of one year. Alternatively, if you activate the "I am on a shared computer" field during your connection, it has a lifespan until you close your browser. This cookie may also have additional functionalities, as a "Necessary" cookie or "Preference", depending on whether you subsequently choose "I Agree"/"Accept All" or "Customize" → "Save Choices".

Change options – Withdrawal of consent

You can change at any time in the future the choice you have made regarding cookies and related technologies on Skroutz. At the bottom of this Policy, you will find the button: «Save options». Regardless of what your choice was the last time we asked you through a pop-up window if you wish the placement of cookies and related technologies, you can decide again through these fields, easily, immediately, and for free.

For example, if you had selected 'Agree'/'Accept All' and changed your mind, you can choose any (or none) of the cookie categories you wish at the bottom of this Policy and click 'Save Preferences.' This action will serve as a revocation of the consent you had already given us and will apply to the future, meaning that from this change onward, Skroutz will no longer use those specific cookies and related technologies on your device. If you want to remove the cookies that were already placed on your device before the aforementioned revocation of your consent, you can do so manually by following the instructions found in the 'Control via browser – Removing cookies' section below.

Control via browser – Removal of cookies

You can control and manage cookies also through the settings of the browser you use. Among the options you have (depending on the browser) are, for example, the acceptance of all cookies, the existence of a warning for the placement of cookies, or the prohibition of their placement.

Accordingly, through your browser settings, you can reverse any acceptance of cookies and related mechanisms from Skroutz, by deleting the already stored files.

To manage and disable cookies, you can follow the relevant instructions per browser:
