Haris Vlavianos wurde 1957 in Rom geboren. Er studierte Philosophie an der University of Bristol und politische Theorie an der University of Oxford. Seine Doktorarbeit mit dem Titel "Greece 1941-1949: From Resistance to Civil War" wurde 1992 von Macmillan veröffentlicht.
