Niall Ferguson

Der britische Historiker Niall Ferguson (vollständiger Name: Niall Campbell Douglas Ferguson) wurde 1964 in Glasgow geboren. Er ist Professor für Geschichte an der Harvard University und der London School of Economics (LSE), Fellow des Jesus College der Universität Oxford und Mitglied der Hoover Institution an der Stanford University. Er gilt als einer der innovativsten Historiker unserer Zeit und ist auf internationale und Wirtschaftsgeschichte spezialisiert. Er ist Autor mehrerer Bücher, darunter "Paper and Iron: Hamburg Business and German Politics in the Era of Inflation, 1897-1927" (1995), "The Pity of War" (1998), "The House of Rothschild: The World's Banker, 1849-1999" (1999), "The Cash Nexus: Money and Power in the Modern World, 1700-2000" (2001), "Empire: How Britain Made the Modern World" (2003), "Colossus: The Rise and Fall of the American Empire" (2004), "The Ascent of Money: A Financial History of the World" (2008), "Civilization: The West and the Rest" (2011) und "Great Degeneration" (2012). Er schreibt für bedeutende internationale Magazine und Zeitungen, darunter "Time Magazine" und "Sunday Telegraph". Seit 2003 hat er fünf erfolgreiche Dokumentarserien für "Channel Four" kuratiert und präsentiert. Er teilt seine Zeit zwischen Oxford und Harvard mit seiner Frau und ihren drei Kindern auf.
