Alex Webb

Alex Webb wurde 1952 in San Francisco, Kalifornien, geboren. Er studierte Geschichte und Literatur im College und Fotografie am Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts. 1972 besuchte er den Apeiron Workshop, und zwei Jahre später wurde er professioneller Fotograf. Schnell begann er, Fotografien in großen Zeitungen und Magazinen zu veröffentlichen, darunter "The New York Times Magazine", "Life", "Geo", "Stern" und "National Geographic". 1974 arbeitete er mit Magnum Photos zusammen und wurde 1979 aktives Mitglied. Er hat mehrere Bücher veröffentlicht, darunter "Hot Light/Half Made Worlds" (1986), "Under a Grudging Sun: Photographs from Haiti Libere" (1989), "Fotografias: From the Tropics" (1989), "From the Sunshine State: Photographs of Florida" (1996), "Amazon: From the Floodplains to the Clouds" (1997), "Dislocations" (1998-1999) und "Crossings: Photographs from the U.S.-Mexico Border" (2003). Seine Werke wurden in Museen wie dem Walker Art Center, dem Museum of Photographic Arts, dem International Center of Photography [George Eastman House], dem High Museum of Art, dem Southeast Museum of Photography und dem Whitney Museum of American Art ausgestellt.
