Red tea is double fermented. Chinese Pu-erh is highly valued among red teas, as it is one of the most popular teas for weight loss. It helps lower cholesterol levels and regulate blood pressure. It contains, among others: tannins, alkaloids, flavonoids, minerals (calcium, magnesium, zinc, manganese, copper, selenium), and vitamin C. It also has antioxidant properties, detoxifies the body and cleanses it of toxins. In addition, Pu-erh has a positive effect on the liver and reduces the effects of alcohol consumption.

The name comes from the Pu'er region near Yunnan province in China. Pu-erh tea is traditionally made from leaves of ancient, wild teas called Qingmao, which grow on the southern side of the country. Pu-erh is one of the few teas that undergo a double fermentation process, during which enzymes and trace elements are activated, starting the maturation process of the tea. Pu-erh is called "living" tea, as fermentation cultures develop during processing, allowing further oxidation in warmer periods, giving the tea its characteristic earthy flavor and valuable health properties. Although it has been known for a long time, it was only in the 1970s that scientists proved that Pu-erh tea positively affects metabolism, lowers cholesterol, and has a relaxing effect on blood vessels and bile ducts.

The brewed infusion from the dry leaves without additives like fruit has an intense red-brown color and acquires a characteristic spicy-earthy aroma and flavor.
